The hotel is located in the Murrayfield area of Edinburgh, 1.5 kilometres west of Princes Street. It isn't that central, but a fast, regular bus service (stopping right outside the hotel) means that the most important landmarks are easily accessible. Walking to Princes Street would take 10 to 15 minutes.

Original Raj Hotel Description

The UK's first Indian-themed hotel, the Original Raj Hotel was opened by Lady Shakira Caine (Sir Michael Caine’s wife) in Spring 2000. The 17 guestrooms feature Indian hardwood furniture (including canopy beds) handmade in Jaipur from recycled Australian railway sleepers. They are also centrally heated, with TV, direct-dial telephone, trouser press and tea and coffee making facilities. They vary in size and layout, but all have en suite bathrooms with bath and power shower. The hotel has no bar or restaurant but guests can bring their own alcohol and are provided with glasses. Guests can also order from the extensive menu of the well known Raj Restaurant in Leith, which delivers to the hotel. Though the hotel doesn’t have a private car park, free unrestricted parking is available in streets adjacent to and behind the property. (This is the closest free parking to the West End.)
